Lamps

Simone & Lance I have two halogen 50 watt flood lights mounted over
my Facetron I have been faceting with them for years now, Pleanty
of light and no shadows. If you are interested contact me and I will
tell you about my set up. I cut commercially several hours a day.

Charles, I would indeed like to know more about your lighting
setup. It would be helpful not only for faceting, but, I think,
also for photography of stones. Thanks for taking the time to help
us out! -Pete Steiner @Peter_B_Steiner

Peter, I should have waited , I just sent the same to
Jess, I have asked him to forward it to Orchid and Facetors
Digest, I hope you see it there , If not I will re do it for you.

Jess: These Halogen bulbs come in two sizes, both are shaped like
outdoor flood lights, the small ones will fit in the swing arm
fixtures. They are made by G.E., I buy them by the case and retail
them for $10.00 each They last for years, so the price is not out
of line. I went looking at garage sales and found a couple of
tables 21"x32" x 30" high I cut a hole in the table that would just
fit my faceting machine “turned base upside down and marked size on
table then cut out” This lowered faceting machine to correct height
for faceting, you can rest your hands and arms on table while you
work, and you dont look up at your work, so light does not get in
your eyes. Iput a shelf in the table,14" off the floor I cut a half
moon out of shelf so it wouldent hit my legs. the shelf holds
transfer stands, and miscellanous other items. I built a 4" deep
bin under the front of the table to hold, saw stablizers, index gears
etc. I bought two pieces of 5/8’ copper tubeing 24" long, next I
drilled a hole about 6"inside from each back corner, and ran the
tubeing down to the shelf… I put a large screw in the shelf where
the tube was to seat the tube goes over the screw and that keeps it
from moveing. Next I took two swing arm lamps and inserted the
bottom in the tubes , now the lamps do not need clamps and the
table can be set up against the wall, Mine sets in corner with
computer just to left of if, now I can have computer on and facet
at same time.I put a skirt around table, so nothing falls off
shelf, and nothind on shelf is visable, when I take the set up to
shows.I placed the hole fot the faceting machine, so that there is
room for my diagrams on the righ hand side of table, room for my
dops on the left side, and room for my jars of chemicals, epoxy
etc. behind the machine and inbetween the lights, The machine is 5"
back from front of table. I hope this helps, the Halogen lights are
