By all means possible visit the Revere Academy of Jewelry Design when
you are in San Francisco. The address is 760 Market Street (in the
middle of downtown) Their telephone number is 415-391-4179.

Dear Anne & David: I am in San Jose, CA about 50 miles south of
San Francisco, and would enjoy meeting you. I am a student at
Evergreen Valley College in their jewelry program and, if you can be
here on a Tues or Thurs evening, I would like to invite you to our
class to share what you are doing and what happens here. I would be
particularly interested in New Zealand jade greenstone to either see
work out of it, trade for some, or whatever. I have some nice
Siberian jade - and others also US Canada etc.

Hi David, Good to hear that you will be visiting LA. The following
are my favorite galleries, which have an emphasis on jewelry:

Sculpture To Wear
Bergamont Station #C-2
2525 Michigan Ave.
Santa Monica, CA
310/829-9960

This particular gallery is located in an industrial looking complex,
consisting of at least 15 contemporary art galleries. Their hours are
Tuesdays - Sat. 11 am - 6 pm, Sundays 12 - 4 pm. One can easily
spend a few hours here.

Del Mano Gallery
11981 San Vincente Blvd.
Los Angeles (on the boarder with Brentwood)
310/476-8508

This gallery shows jewelry, ceramics, turned wood objects, boxes and
other craft items. Del Mano has another gallery located in Old Town
Pasadena. Their hours are Tuesdays - Sat. 10am - 6pm, Sundays 12-5pm.

Free Hand Gallery
8413 West 3rd Street

Los Angleles (on the boarder with Beverly Hills) This gallery is
slightly larger than Del Mano (Brentwood) but showcases about the
same(naturally different artists) crafts. It is also located near the
Farmers Market, which is a fun stop for lunch.

Human Arts Gallery
310 E. Ojai Ave.
Ojai, CA (about 1 1/2 hours No. of LA and 1 hour So. of Santa Barbara)
805/646-1525

This gallery is located in a small and rather quaint California town
with one Main Street. However, it is owned by two jewelers who know
their artists and the quality is high. Couple doors down from this
gallery they have opened a Human Arts store for the home which is also
a lot of fun. It is a lovely drive through the hills and a good stop
before you reach Santa Barbara. There is another jewelry store on the
same street (one block long), but I can not recall the name. However,
you can not miss it. The hours are Tuesday - Friday 11am-5pm, Sat.
11am-6pm, Sunday 12 - 5pm. If you have other questions, do not
hesitate to contact me off line. Mimi
