L.A. Jewelry Mart Pollution Problems

All, Todays’ issue of the Los Angeles Times carries a major story on
the recent proposed crackdown on safety and pollution in the L.A.
jewelry district.

The gist of the article is that the city has backed off on stringent
enforcement and will pursue a policy of accomodation and patience
within suggested “industry guidelines” It was suggested , however,
that people use up their cyanide and that all toxic effluents should
be disposed of “properly” It kind of sounds like it is pretty much
"business as usual"…just don’t screw up! Ron at Mills Gem, Los
