We cast 2 to 3 times a week and wanted to install a data logger in order to analyze burnouts, especially if we have casting defects or have a failed burnout. The data logger’s native analysis program was limited, so I created an excel macro that allows us to better analyze and track our burnouts. This provides us a record of all our burnouts, in case we need to troubleshoot casting defects.
I thought the community might be interested in how we analyze our burnouts, so I’ve provided a video of this system below. Let me know if there are any questions
Supplies used are as follows:
-Rio Extra-Large Oven, burning out 6 to 9 perforated flasks (3.5” x 7”) per casting cycle.
-Identical Thermocouple as used in Rio Kiln, installed below the kiln’s thermocouple.
-Wired to an Omega OM-2010 data logger (Discontinued) which is then connected via a wireless adapter to our network.
