Professor of Metals and Jewelry

SCAD Savannah seeks highly motivated candidates for a full-time
faculty position in the metals and jewelry department. The SCAD
metals and jewelry department cultivates creative and independent
designers. Students are encouraged to question preconceived notions
of jewelry and are challenged with new materials and technology to
review, rethink and resolve. The program is committed to contributing
new energy and innovative approaches to established art, craft and
design communities.

The SCAD metals and jewelry department is the largest degree
granting program in the United States. The department focuses on
critical thinking, innovative design, and the production of
distinctive work with an emphasis on career preparation through
competitions, collaborative projects with industry and exhibition
opportunities.

Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong record in design for
production, mastery of design process, be highly innovative, exhibit
active participation in professional organizations, and understand
the impact of technologies in the field. Successful candidates must
have terminal degree or equivalent in jewelry with more than five
years experience as a practicing professional in industry. Teaching
experience and a record of scholarship is preferred, and applicants
with expertise in jewelry design industry or professional craft
field, experience in jewelry marketing and business, and strong
industry contacts are preferred. The qualified candidate should also
participate in professional organizations and recognizable activities
in the field.
