Idaho State University: Assistant Professor, full time, tenure track,
starts August 2009. MFA in studio art with emphasis in jewelry and
metalsmithing is required. Strong commitment to teaching design and
history of contemporary crafts is required with university teaching
experience preferably beyond the graduate teaching assistantship
level. The applicant’s record must clearly demonstrate active
research through current work and exhibitions, including solo, group
and juried shows. The successful applicant should exhibit a balance
of technical skills, attention to formal visual language and
conceptual development, and an interest in both contemporary and
historical theory. Teaching responsibilities include courses from
Introduction to Metals/Jewelry through graduate level to a diverse
student body. Secondary teaching responsibilities may include
foundation design and/or craft history and contemporary theory.
Three courses per semester teaching load. Other responsibilities
include student advising and departmental and university service.
