Jewelry Attractions - Virginia

Due to my husband’s job, we might be relocating from Belgium to
Virginia

(somewhere in between Roanoke, VA and Greensboro,NC/Winston-Salem,
NC. I’m currently in the middle of my Master’s degree in Jewelry
Design at the Academy of Fine Arts and working with a renowned
(though extravagant) artist, making one-of-a-kind, “artistic”
jewelry, putting the emphasis more on the creative aspect than the
technical aspect. Is there anybody out there who can help me finding
other artists, schools, workshops, museums, etc.so as not to get lost
in the middle of nowhere and loose my “creative” spirit ? ( I’ve
lived in the US before, I speak English fluently) Thanks in advance,
Linda

HI Linda,

I am a precious metals caster from Providence, RI, and have lived in
VA for 5 years now. Virginia Beach is home to Blaine Lewis’ New
Approach School For Jewelers. I have heard nothing but rave reviews
about it, and I am hoping to attend some courses there myself in the
future. The VA Museum Of Fine Arts in Richmond is an outstanding
museum, and has a superb collection of English silver. Colonial
Williamsburg offers a window into traditional silversmithing, and if
you are a museum junkie like me, you will love being close to
Washington DC
