Greetings All-i am shopping online for a royal blue lapis cabochon. May one discern, by looking at the photo, if the lapis cab is dyed?
There is a lot online to help you answer this question. First of all, the seller should tell you if it is dyed. You may have to ask the question. If they won’t, then see if they will let you rub some acetone on a small area on the back. If the color comes off, it is dyed. Look for variations in the blue that might show that the dye has concentrated in some areas. Good luck…Rob
