I produce pieces in a biomorphic style using silver, stones and
exotic woods. I have been producing and teaching for nearly twenty
years. I use stones with some color, usually cabs, that are
integrated into the design as a component rather than the focal
point.

richard, my jewelry is composed of mostly wood, exotic and local,
along with metal components and acrylic, that i make as well.
Finding my wood locally cuts down on cost and gives me a world of
figured, hard wood that is as beautiful as any exotic, but i
mostly use it because i fear tree extermination around the world,
as of yet i haven’t gotten to carving stone, would like to trade
pics and notes if you are interested, dp

I am using recyled wood left over from the wood shop at the school
where I teach and from hedge (osage orange) I also glean interesting
wood when I can find it. I too am a tree hugger. I also use trimmings
off of my apple and pear trees, wonderful wood. I am getting ready for
a show next month, after that is up, sure, I would like to share
notes and pics with you.

I have heard that exotic wood dealers have established a designation
that indicates that the wood was harvested in a sustainable manner.
