while I was in Tucson I talked to Hubert Heldner at the Kruess
Gemology booth. He is running an interesting gem safari. Basically
you find a way to get to Tanzania and then you get a 17 day
adventure, gemology lessons, mine your own tanzanites etc, see
animals, camp for a day or so, spend five days in a fully equipped
lapidary factory with your gems (cut gems export duty free), or
lounge at the pool, beach etc.... Interesting for the right person.
around $1500 for food, lodging, adventure etc.
