An article in the most recent Tips from the Jewelers Bench
states that there are several advantages to using a 75 to 25 ratio of
ferric chloride to citric acid for etching brass or copper.
Does anyone know if mixing Citric acid into Ferric nitrate ( I think
that is the correct chemical) will have the same advantages for
etching silver.
Also, does anyone know of any disadvantages, safety or otherwise, in
pursuing this method?
