Peter, Vinegar will take oxide off copper if you put salt in it. We
used it in the enamel lab for years at SD State University. First
clean it with detergent and hot water if it is dirty or greasy. Sodium
bisulfate (PH decreaser balanced for clean pools) in your garden
shop, however does a better job and also cleans silver.
