Just a little show that sprang up out in the desert. A few snobirds, (them’s
anybody that don’t like snow) parked their RVs in the desert near Quartzite &
started selling rocks they found swap meet style. It grew like topsy & now there
are estimates of 30,000+ RVers every year. Bring a tent or RV, there’s no
h/motel in Quartzite; ya gotta stay in CA (about 50 mi, I think) & drive over.
Haven’t ever been, but hear you can find about anything in the lapidary area.

I’m going to both shows this year. Experienced Tucson last year for the
first time. I can’t wait to get back. I have been told there is one motel
in Quartzite now, but doubtful it’s possible to book a room there. Don’t
know the name of it.
Also talked to people last year who claimed they got cheap rooms in Tucson
without prior reservations. Hard to imagine I booked 50 miles east of Tucson
in Benson. No problem getting a room there at the Best Western.
Glad to hear about staying in CA. I was thinking I’d base out of the Phoenix
area.

I’ll be going; lucky me, my mom still lives in Tucson so staying isn’t a
problem. Won’t be able to make the Quartzite show, though. Wonder how many

My mom lives outside of Phoenix, so I am trying to coordinate the trip with
my sister (who’s in Ohio). What dates are you going to be there? I haven’t

I haven’t firmed up my dates yet, either; I will probably try to go in late
Jan so I can catch the wholesale shows first. I’ll post dates when I get a
bit organized - or when I buy my tickets, which means I most likely still
won’t be organized…

i, too, am planning to go for the first 5 days of tucson, but then plan
to do some field tripping the next 5 or 6 days. would love to go to
quartzite but thats a week earlier and lots more money!
we need to get someone to keep a list and make some plans for dinner
some nite.
