This is exactly the point. Any copper salt is toxic. The difference
is only the degree of toxicity. That brings different perspective on
advice of making jewellery out of copper, practice on copper and
brass, and etc…

You may have made a mistake. There is Ascorbic acid, Citric Acid
and Acetic Acid which need to be considered in this reference.
Based on my ancient chemistry knowledge, I am pretty certain that
only the latter will produce verdigris when reacting with copper. 

and maybe another mistake? you might ask the picasso children why
their father made them “leak” on his bronze sculptures…; ^)
