Home Made Engraving Ball

I have been doing all lot of research on tools and practicing on
engraving jewelry. I have tried to do it with out a graver ball but
it is very hard to get the scrolls correct. two nights ago I was
surfing the web and I notice GRS has made a mini ball
http://www.progresstool.com/pd_grs_engraving.cfm for $218.00. this
gave me an idea. so I made a pretty cool mini ball.

[1] I removed the wood handle from a peg clamp. - $12.00

[2] then I bought a 3" wood ball from a local wood workers store. -
$5.00

[3] then I bought a wood screw that has a metric screw on the other
end. - $0.35

[4] then I bought some kind of plumbing thing for the base. - $1.99

total cost - $19.34 plus tax

tonight I tried it and it works great. I am sure that there is a
difference between mine and GRS. dont get me wrong i think GRS
products are great the benchmate and gravermax changed my life
forever, but for $20.00 I will experiment until I have the extra
money to buy the real one.

if you want to see it email me and I will send you the pictures. it
was very easy to make.
