the line from the rental agency which is over 1,000!!! has anyone
processed or used wireless in the balitimore convention hall? I

soooooooooooooooooooo expensive., union labor is 93. hr. I think I am
in the wrong buisiness. anyway, please help if you know any hints
about doing this show, thankis s. knopp

S. Knopp,

A lot of discussion about this very topic on Orchid in the past, so
go back in the Ganoksin archives and dig up the comments. One
company name that kept coming up was Tea-Mac, Inc. They are a credit
card processing company in PA, and are proud of the fact that they
cater to folks in the arts. They have been nothing but great for me.
I’ve sent quite a few friends there and haven’t heard any complaints.
They have various terminal choices and when you call and talk w/
someone there, they probably will be able to answer the ACC Baltimore
question you have, as well. That’s a guess, but won’t hurt asking.

This is a disclaimer; just a satisfied customer for 4 years now.

Sue,

If wifi is not available or too expensive at the show you could get a
wireless modem for your computer. It’s pretty much a cell phone that
plugs into your USB port or PCI port on your laptop. Shop around and
find a deal. Most wireless companies want a two year commitment but
give you the wireless modem for free. Also, look at how much you will
be using it and how many megabytes you will be transferring. Going
over your limit can be expensive just like on a cell phone. Perhaps
there is a pay as you go offer out there so you don’t have a
reoccurring monthly expense.

Sue, if Verizon phone service is available in the convention hall you
could get their modem that attaches to your computer. There is a
monthly fee but it’s accessible just about anywhere. I know many
people that use it as their sole internet access, and it travels
w/you.
