High altitude soldering

Dear Jesse, In Re: inverted air tank…I am reminded of the
bumble bee…according to the laws of aerodynamics it is
impossible for it to fly! How is it that if a piston in an
engine or a compressor is forced into a cylinder the pressure is
increased ? It is because the energy transmitted by the cam
shaft is the same as the weight on top of the inverted air
cylinder. Ron at Mills Gem, Los Osos, CA.

Calculate how much weight you have to add to get a one psi
boost. Say you use a 2 ft. diameter bell. Do you want to do this
??? Up and down one time will be enough. at 10,000 -15,000
ft? plus??? Who is going to haul the O2 up to revive you ??
Think!! I don’t mean to be nasty – but this isn’t practical.
Don’t compare manpower ability with a machine. Jesse

After all the stuff on your high altitude soldering oxidizer
problem – I uncovered on "my "bookshelf a description and
drawing of a dual action bellows … This should fill your need. I
will send you a xerox from here in the next day or so–leaving
thursday --or probably can scan in and e-mail from San Francisco
after thursday if I don’t hear from you or get it done before I
leave. Let me know your mail address if that’s best or send reply
to me here and at ;: ikbrennan@pol.net or both. I would very
much like to receive info on your project. Did you read the stuff
on the UK intermediate technology project? Tibet must be a
very bleak place to work. China must still use the old
appropriate technology for this someplace, but I imagine they are
no help. India is probably a politically incorrect place,
although I think old practices can still be in use there. I hope
my jargon isn’t too confusing. Jesse
