Hemostat

Hello Rex, A hemostat is used during surgery to clamp off arteries and
veins. Stop by your physician’s office and ask to see one. Here’s a
website showing a picture.

They obviously get used outside of surgery and are very handy clamps
for lots of purposes. In fact, many restaurants keep a long handled
hemostat for emergency removal of food from a choking customer’s
