Hardening ear posts after soldering

This is accomplished without sophisticated techniques. All one needs
to do is grip the post gently in a pair of smooth-jawed pliers, and
rotate the earring. You will detect a twist occur by observing the
change in the surface appearance of the post. It is necessary to
grip the post in various locations along its length, and stop
twisting once detectable resistance is met. This method works where
any wire is concerned. The surface distortion is minimal, and
requires only a small amount of gentle sanding and polishing to
remove.
