Granulation by Ed Colbeth

Hi ! I was reading the Granulation article by Ed Colbeth, And I
have some doubts. -In the place I live is impossible to get
Battern’s flux, can I use, borax or another brand of flux ?

-White out, is the liquid stuff like paint that is used to
correct pen or writting machine mistakes ?

-I got some hide glue, but it looks like a piece of rubber,
could I dilute it with water and heat ?

-Instead of a granulation klin, can I use an Neycraft electrical
klin ?

-what is the preheat temperature, and the glow bight red
temperature ?

-When applying the grans, in step 5, when the torch is used, it
has to outside the klin ?

-A gas /air torch can be used ?

I hope any one out there can help me, thank you very much.

Batterns flux can be ordered through various catalogs like
Indian Jewelers Supply, Thunderbird, Rio Grande and many, many
others.

Some “White out” (yes, the liquid stuff used to paint out
mistakes) is alcohol based - and may cause toxic fumes . . . if
you use some form of this product, you may want to search for the
WATER BASED kind. Waterbased is also found in your local office
supply store.
