Gold plating lei flowers

Hi to All

I have a customer asking to to have his customer’s lei flowers gold
plated. Is that possible? Does anyone do this?

Thanks for any and all help.

Franz

Franz- You can gold plate pretty much anything. It’s basically
electro forming. Think Bronze baby shoes.

I’ve even gold plated a petrified lizard. It was a wedding gift from
a groom to a bride. Really. Can’t hardly love a woman more than that.

Here’s the short version of how it works…

The object gets spray coated with copper powder suspended in a
solution.

Then the piece is attached to a copper wire. The piece gets
suspended in a plating solution at very low voltage for several hours
to slowly build up a layer of metal. That metal then gets gold
plated.

Have fun and make lots of jewelry.

Petrified or mummified? Big difference.

Point to Richard. Yes the correct term would be mummified. Thanks
Richard.

Thank goodness you corrected me before the real scientists in my
family read this. I’d never hear the end of it from them.
