Gold filled & the torch

Hi,

I am new to the world of metal smithing and was wondering if there is
a way to solder gold filled metal without the copper coming to the
surface? I am trying to put a jumpring on some chain and the chain
keeps turning. Thanks for any advice!

Hi Jill,

I’m new to gold filled too, but what I find that works is to use
easy solder, cut into pallions that are tiny-tiny-tiny, flux well,
and be wicked careful with torch control, get out as soon as the
solder shivers into place.
