Going Retail

#1
I can count on one hand the number of customers I got out of the
Yellow Pages during that 20 year period. ONE hand, not two. Our
newsprint advertising generally brings in $5-10 per $1 we spend.

Depends on where you are. We are in a rural area. We are the only
jewelry and watch repair facility in a three-county area. We get
"long distance" business from the yellow pages, but have never had
any luck with advertising in the local newspaper. I think you need to
experiment with all types of advertising, ask every new customer how
they found out about you (keep a tally), then tailor your advertising
accordingly.

Del Pearson in beautiful South Texas. We had winter one day last
week. Got all the way down to 30.
