Getting the wire to roll into a ball

I’m having trouble getting the enircled bit of wire to roll up into
a ball. The base and wire is sterling and the raised wall is fine
silver. i have a feeling the wall of fine silver is shielding the
wire so it refuses to roll up…how can i resolve this? I use a hand
torch for all my work

thanx in advance for ur help

It would be easy with gold, but silver conducts the heat very
quickly. Try to use very pointed, intense flame. You may have trouble
controlling shape of the bead. Another approach is to round up wire
using mechanical means, or simply solder the bead in place.

Hello,

I am also using a hand torch. I use mostly fine silver wire. I bring
the tip of the flame directly to the tip of the wire. I mean the wire
and the flame are in a straight line. You will see how quickly a ball
forms.
