Genie / Pixie

Hi Amy, me again. Looks the general concensus is that the Genie
is better than the Pixie, so I’m overruled, but hey…no
problem, we all tend to go with what we own and know, right?
Whichever, I believe you’ll be happiest with a Diamond Pacific
product and no, I’m not connected with them in any way either,
just a 20-year, very satisfied user of their product. Have
fun…there’s nothing like taking a piece of rock and making a
beautiful gemstone out of it, is there? Sharon Holt

Fred, go to the source: Diamond Pacific, at 2620 W. Main St.,
Barstow CA 92311, phone 1-800-253-2954 (even from Canada, they
say). They are so good, so helpful…can supply direct, or give
you a dealer in your area. Sharon Holt

Also I have a 6" All U Need. I also like it. I think that the
two machines compliment each other well. I like being able to
have a flat surface the All U Need provides.

I agree with liking a flat surface. I have 3 grades of diamond
flat laps from Hi-Tech which screw into the mounting on the right
end of the shaft of my Genie (where the polishing pad installs.)
My only beef is working vertically, but for the few times I
really need this, it’s a fair trade-off.

I rigged a clean water drip system for the lap and move the
recirculating geysers to the opposite pan when using the drip. I
used (IV or Oxygen tubing) fitted near the bottom of a cottage
cheese tub which sits on the arbor above the lap end. The rate
of drip and the positioning of the end of the tube require some
ingenuity and patience, but the price is right. (The laps were
even at a special price at the Tucson show.) I have doubled the
tubing through a larger diameter tubing “sleeve” which slides to
crimp the tubing more for reduced drip rate or less for faster
drip. The dripping end can be passed through the opening of a
clothespin (attached to the arbor) to position as needed.
