Gender bias in jewelry

Several years ago I met a bearded and burly tourmaline miner at a
gem show. Around his neck on a gold chain and hanging in the curly
locks of his chest hair was a sizeable bubble gum pink faceted
tourmaline pendant. After getting to know him a bit, I had the nerve
to ask him if his neck ware ever got him any negative comments from
other men. He reflexively clenched his fists and jaw and said “Let
them try it!” Remembering that moment always makes me smile – now
there’s a guy with no issues about his masculinity.
