Gas pressures

G’day: I’ve been using pressure reduction valves for very many years on both oxygen and propane bottles to provide a line pressure of around 5 pounds per square inch. Before I began jewellery work around 24 years ago I did quite a good deal of scientific-equipment type glassblowing using Pyrex (soda -or ordinary glass doesn’t really need oxygen) and always found these pressures perfectly satisfactory, even when very large flames are required. (making large flasks from tube, for instance) But I have to emphasize that you ** MUST** use pressure reduction valves, and one should also have anti-flashback devices too, to be really safe.
