Bettina: One of the best places for learning silver work is right in your
own country, Taxco. I met a woman here in the US who works down there for a
jewelry manufacturer and is taking silversmithing classes in her spare
time. The classes are very cheap by US standards and there are master
silversmiths there to learn from. If you have Gem and Mineral societies in
your country like they do here, they usually offer silversmithing classes
which is how I learned the basics. Books are always good to learn from
also. As far as goldsmithing goes I know there are good schools in the US
but don’t know alot about them. One if the Alan Revere Academy in San
Francisco. I don’t know if you have access to the newsgroups on the
internet, but rec.crafts.jewelry is a great place to ask technical
questions once you learn the basics. Hope this helps out…Dave
