From the Enamelest Society Conference

Hello from The Enamelest Society Conference “Surfacing” in Oakland
at the Marriott Cty Center.

you can learn alot just being here, you can sign up for just
portions of this, I think, or you can pay a small fee and attend any
of these events available ( post workshops are seperate fee)

Last night we had a presentation by the Hal Nelson and Bernard Jazzer
(founders of Enamel Arts Foundation) on the Fred Ball exhibition at
the SFMuseum of Craft +Design and then went to the exhibit. Blew the
socks off everyone! What gorgeous work! Unlike anything else I’ve
seen…just gorgeous! very inspiring! The Museum also had mounted
that internationally traveling exhibition of Scottish silverwork that
has been at teh Hermitage and the V&A etc. Contemporary silver
vessels as art. Fabulous.

Today the official start of the conference.

lots of 50 min sessions covering a huge variety of topics.: torch
fired plique, fold forming, photo application, sldering, pattern
techniques kiln maintentence, business issues, inspiration,
cloissone, limoges painting, I’m not awake yet, have a meeting in a
few minutes and can’t remember all of them.

Tonight is the opening of the international exhibition more later.
