MJSA will be offering At the Bench Live demonstrations during MJSA
LA Showcase located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 711 S. Hope St., Los
Angeles. The sessions are free but show registration is required. To
participate register onsite. MJSA LA showcase is open to trade only.
Business ID showing trade affiliation and photo ID required for
admission.

Monday April 28, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. AJM At The Bench Live: Techniques
for Flush Settings featuring Edward J. Friedman, The Buehn Company.
Senior Instructor, Revere Academy. Flush setting is one of the more
popular stone setting techniques: This demonstration will show you 2
techniques to accomplish quality flush settings. Learn how to avoid
pitfalls when cutting the seat, to select the proper bur, adjust
stone height, maximize burnished metal, and minimize final cleanup of

Monday April 28, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. AJM At The Bench Live: Bench Tips
to Speed Production featuring Liz Brehmer, Product Manager, Rio
Grande.This session will demonstrate how to speed production and
reduce defects using new products and techniques. Learn how to use
tack welding to preposition posts and findings prior to soldering.
See how fixturing and marking materials can improve production stone
setting, and which brushes to use for speed finishing and to create
consistent texturing.

Tuesday April 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. AJM At the Bench Live:
Micromachining in the Small Shop featuring Wayne Lenkeit, JA Master
Jeweler. This session explores the use of manual and semi-automated
lathes and milling machines for precision work in wax and metal. The
demonstrations will include such topics as the making of specialized
tools, finishing techniques, stone setting, and wax work.

Tuesday April 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. AJM At The Bench Live: Bench Tips
to Speed Production featuring Liz Brehmer, Product Manager, Rio
Grande. A second chance to learn valuable production techniques from
an industry veteran. Brehmer has spent 24 years in the industry,
serving as a designer, stone setter, caster and teacher, in addition
to working as a goldsmith in Arezzo and Florence, Italy. She
currently serves as the casting and product manager for Ro Grande.
