Forging a ring to size it down

I made my girlfriend a mokume ring last year, and it needs to be
sized down. I would have to remove and re-set the diamond to size it
at the seam, so I was wondering if there is a good way to forge a
ring down a size? The shank is half round and tapers from fairly
large at the top to ~3-4 mm wide at the bottom.

Put a sleeve in it. When it needs sizing up, take the sleeve out.
