Forgeting your work

I never forget my work. Why just the other day I saw an old
piece, a silver ring...no, it was a gold pendant...or was it a
bracelet? Darn it, I forgot to take my memory pills again. Will E.

G’day; I never forget my work; I photograph it or scan it and have
it on a zip disc for instant use when I want it without cluttering
hard disc space. But sometimes when I look at something, I ask myself

  • “Hey, did I do that?” and I answer that I must have, for there it
is unforgotten. But it is a bit of a let down when you forget where
you keep the disc or that you actually have one. However, I just spent
this morning looking for a half finished jade pendant I was working on
after breakfast… Couldn’t find it anywhere; searched all over. Even
emptied the rubbish bins. “Damn the #$%^& gremlins”, I said, until my
wife walked in and picked it up off my bench and shoved it literally
under my nose. Wonder I didn’t remember to forget that. Cheers,

My 2 cents worth: Over the last year I’ve made many more glass beads
than jewelry projects. I remember the bead best when it is hot as the
colors change when they cool. So naturally they are forgetable,
especially after a few hundred of similar color or design. Maybe that
is the same process for people who make one design after another in
metal. They remember the ring at the bench and not on someone’s
finger. So forgetting is natural. Geo.
