Fold-forming workshop in Calgary

#1

Hi All, There are still some places left in the Calgary fold-forming
workshop this summer. If you are interested register at 403-284-7640
(Alberta College of Art and Design) or email us OFF LIST for
with ‘Att: Tara’ in the subject line
(@Charles_Lewton-Brain). Note I am out of town until July 3rd. best,
Charles. Here is a description:

Fold-Forming July 16-19, 2001 (Alberta College of Art and Design,
Calgary, Alberta) Learn Fold-forming from the source. This course runs
through the entire system, more than a hundred shapes. Fold forming is
an innovative, quick, easily learned way of shaping sheet metal with
hand tools. Forms are derived from the natural plasticity and
ductility of the metal. Lewton-Brain invented fold-forming, now
internationally recognized as a completely new way to work metal.
Shaping is extremely efficient and rapid (many take 3-7 minutes
working time). The Rolex Awards for Enterprise chose a project of his
on the further development of fold forming for inclusion in a book on
innovative developments in science and invention in the world, the
Rolex Awards for Enterprise 1991 Edition. Tools are simple: fingers,
hammers, anvil and mill. Complex relief forms are made from sheets of
metal often on one annealing. They resemble chased, constructed and
soldered forms, and can be made with most metals, including steel.
Includes a fold-forming technical paper and a Shareware book. Register
at 403-284-7640 (Alberta College of Art and Design)

Hi all, I’m teaching a fold-forming class in Calgary in July and
there are still some places in it. I have cut my workshops down from
20 or so a year to to two or three so it is a rarer opportunity than
it was. If you are interested contact the Alberta College of Art and
Design Con. Ed. program at (403)-284-7640 for and to
register. If you need accomodation let them know (and
maybe I can help) B+B’s in Calgary run $45.00US/night. best Charles
