Foil backed gems

Hi,

Recently a job came into my shop, the likes of which I had never
seen before. It was a three stone diamond ring. The stones looked to
be old mine cuts. The unusual part - they were foil backed.

The reason they were brought to me is because the foil has come
loose at places and moisture got in between the stone(s) and the
foil, making them appear very gray. The client wanted to know if the
foil could be redone. My lapiderist didn’t know if or where this
could be done.

Is anyone out there familiar with this? Do you know where it could
be redone? I’d appreciate any direction.

Yes, the stones can be refoiled. Please contact jewelcollect at
tias.com for the link. I just bought a new computer and deleted that
