Flexshafts

What is the going rate for a used Fordham flexshaft with #30
handpiece and a foot pedal? Any idea? Anybody want to get rid
of one?

Marshall,

Have you tried the used equipment site at Rio Grande?

Rio Grande sells the Fordham “S” series with a #30 hand piece
for $220. I bought one brand new for $180 at a local jewerly shop
(Metaliferious in NYC). I think most shops will sell it cheaper
than Rio

Hi Marshall,

I bought mine (new) from Bombay Bazaar, through an ad in the
classified section in Lapidary Journal. They advertise there
all the time. I believe I paid $185, which was the best price I
could find. Let me know if you need their number… I can go out
to the studio and look it up for you!

Marshall:

Checking LJ for the Bombay Bazaar price, which is usually
lowest, I see a Foredom 2272 or 2274 kit for $194. I can’t find
this kit in my catalog, but I assume it is the CC motor, carbon
fiber foot pedal and #30 handpiece with a little kit of burs.
Since these things never wear out, I’d guess $150 is a fair used
price — remember, you have to find someone who wants to part
with their and who bought it at close to the low price or they
will feel it is worth more — but you could show them the ad.
Hope this helps.

Jess,

What is Bombay Bazaar? Tool catalog? Can you give a number I
can call for a catalog? Thanks in advance, Jill @jandr

Hi, I got my Foredom with #30 handpiece from McCaw (maybe it’s
Macaw). They are on the net now. I bought mine when I was still
in Ft. Meyer’s area, where he’s located, for $200. With
shipping, it’d be more, of course.

Whoever wrote and sent url for Rio Grande’s 2nd hand tools,
thanks a lot. Didn’t know they had them. Best, Paula

Bombay Bazaar is ALWAYS listed in Metalsmith and Lapidary
Journal.

Hi Gang,

There are some Fordeom knock offs available from some of the
tools importers eg., Harbor Freight on the West coast (I’m sure
there others) for about $125 (motor, speed control & handpiece).
K.H. Lee, a jewelry tool supplier, 800-435-4966 has some in this
price range also.

I’m not associated with either company, just get their catalogs.

Hey Dave!!

Why don’t you send me that phone number. What did that $185
include?? Motor, flexshaft, handpiece, collets (if applicable)???

By the way, my friend, I am looking to leave my current
employ–Eckerds. I am looking for a troubleshooter type
position. I am not a computer expert, but I am pretty damn sharp
and learn quickly. Does Microsoft have anything that you know
of?? I’m coming off of retail management, so be gentle. Remail
me if you can think of anything.

@Marshall_Jones

Bambay Bazaar: (216) 521-6548 Low prices, probably not much
service.

Rock Peddler 1-800-416-4348 or 4350. A little higher, but maybe
a little better service.

Check Macaw’s Website, too, they are usually real cheap. Might
also check Rio’s used tools listing on the Web.
