Fashion Institute of Technology Jewelry Design Department to host
Technology Conference For Manufacturing and Design Professionals

On Friday, March 24, 2000, the Fashion Institute of Technology is
hosting it�s first ever, Technology Conference, called, �Design and
Manufacture in the Digital Age.� The Conference is open to
professionals in the design industries.
According to Anthony Lent, Assistant Professor and Chairperson of
the� Department, Jewelry Design at FIT, �Although this conference is
all about technology, it�s definitely not just for designers or
engineers. It�s also for those in research and product development as
well as model makers and sales, marketing and financial executives.�
This all-day conference program has been developed specifically for
those who work in the design industries - whether in jewelry or
fashion accessories, toy manufacturing or packaging and industrial
design� everyone who wants to understand how digital design works and
what it can do for them and their companies. Representatives from
design schools are also encouraged to attend.
The conference will feature the latest in 2D and 3D digital design
solutions. Presentations will focus on the impact this digital
technology has; how it is changing the way design industries are doing
business; how it enables companies to communicate more effectively; how
it allows businesses greater flexibility; and how it enables companies
to respond more efficiently to the ever-changing marketplace.
There will be demonstrations of the latest software including
Photoshop, Corel Draw, Metacreations Painter, Alias, Rhino and SDRC�s
Idea�s Master Series. And there will also be high-end output devices
on display.
The conference begins at 8:15 am and ends at 4:30pm. The cost is $75
