Firescale prevention

TPS in NY, and many other states, is supposed to be phosphate free because it promotes the growth of nasty stuff in our lakes. . Last I knew you could buy it on line with phosphate, so I bought a bunch…Rob

You could try Argentium
" Argentium silver is a brand of modern tarnish-resistant silver alloys, containing either 93.5% or 96% silver. Argentium alloys replace some of the copper in the traditional sterling silver alloy (92.5% silver + 7.5% copper) with the metalloid germanium."
It does work differently, e.g. very brittle at red heat, also “colder” in colour to my eyes, but firescale is greatly reduced.
Check on the web for more of the differences, pros’ and cons’

I tried Argentium a few years ago. I found that I didn’t like the finished look and the way it worked on the bench was different enough from working Sterling that I never used again.
