I cut stones, mostly faceted but the occasional cabochon. When I put
them in settings, not being a professional jeweler, I purchase off
the shelf, prenotched settings from suppliers like Tripps.
As supplied, these settings are tumble-polished, but not really well
finished. They have casting artifacts and rough spots, and need more
than just buffing up on a wheel.
Can anyone point me to on finishing these settings? I
don’t expect to compete with the pros, but I would like to be able
to improve the settings.
