This is in reply to Marrin T. Flett’s problem with clogged files.
Years ago when I worked in a machine shop and used files
extensively we rubbed the files with a piece of chalk. That filled
the grooves in the file with chalk and the filings did not stick in
the grooves nearly as much and made the files easy to clean with a
steel brush. It did not change the cutting action of the files.
