Fabricating a lock a key

Hello All,

I am in search of on fabricating a keyed lock for a
container. I know I have seen step-by-step instructions for this in
the past, possibly written by Tim McCreight or Charles Lewton Brain,
but for the life of me, I can’t find them again! Does anyone know of
such in existence and, if so, could you post a link to
the Thanks much.

Erica,

I am in search of on fabricating a keyed lock for a
container.

There is a great tutorial on lockmaking at the AnvilFire site for
blacksmiths. Just scale them down for your use.

Good luck,

A number of years ago, I happened to stumble onto this page
concerning locks and blacksmithing.

This should provide you with enough material to fabricate a plain
lever or warded lock. The recomended material would be brass for the
parts. Other metals of course for any decoration. While it is
possible for the craftsperson to make more complex locks, the lever
and warded locks are probably the most reasonable.

Good luck.
