Experience with Pandora line of jewelry

hear that Pandora has an enormous opening order. Can anyone
clarify?

Pandora might be around for a long time, or it may be a fad. Charm
bracelets were all the rage once upon a time, and we still sell
charms occasionally but not like 20 or 30 years ago.

If we want to make beads suitable to go on these bracelets, what is
the hole size necessary

Yes: $25k buy in and a 17 page contract that will not allow you to
carry troll or chamilia, you will also be subject to thier
inspectors!

If I sold retail, There would be NO WAY I would let ANY tail wag my
dog like this! I don’t care how much it sold. That is why I dictate
what and who and how I sell something, not some VENDOR of mine.
Don’t be desperate sheep in these hard economic times! This FAD, too,
will die out. give it time. What if you were one of their customers
and selling the crap out their line , then one day they came in and
said, “No more, we’re yanking your license to sell our product!” Now
what?? Not a smart way of doing business if you ask me! I don’t care
how much $$$$ they make. I can live with out them! Remember PET ROCKS
and BEANIE BABIES??? LOL

Tim,

Are you making metal beads or glass beads? this thread on Lampwork,
Etc. might help answer your question. You will need to read a number
of posts, and maybe link through to a second thread, but you might
find what you need.

Silver Tubing Size question...again-sorry! - Lampwork Etc.

It is mostly a discussion of what size tubing to purchase for lining
glass beads. I also make metal beads from sheet that I dome and
rivet with silver tubing, but I don’t cast. I see a lot of cast or
PMC beads, not much that is fabricated for these chains.

From reading the previous posts, I would imagine shop owners could
lose their license to sell this line if they dared to offer charms/
beads made by individual artists. I agree… why would anyone sign
such a contract, unless there is an absolute guarantee of sufficient
sales to warrant the constriction? Too bad that so many buyers have
a unoriginal approach to jewelry buying.

I am a jewelry store owner and have been looking at buying Pandora
for the last 2 years. I talked myself out of it and went with a
similar product from Royal Chain called Personalities. Last time I
talked to Pandora the lowest buy in was $25,000.00 but you could get
more exclusivity in your area by buying $50,000.00. Personalities
beads will fit on all the other bracelets but theirs will not fit on
a personalities. And when this fad dies I can return left over
merchandise to Royal chain in exchange for all their other products.
I can’t say that it has been a big seller but it is alright. I know
of stores that are selling $75,000.00 a year of Pandora but they hate
the company and the product is a lot of work to stock and sell.

Hi Carol,

thanks for that link, it seems that 4.5mm ID should do it.

I make metal beads in the UK for a customer who has been asked to
supply some designs, she only works in a very specific design area
though, I do her wax carving and casting. I also make beads for
myself, at the moment with small holes for earrings etc.

I have seen various of these systems at trade fairs and in shops and
have not been very impressed with the designs, it was just a thought
that if they get popular (and possibly cheaper from other suppliers)
that if you sold beads that customers liked in your own store they
would add them on their bracelets. Is Pandora going to refuse to sell
them any more if they see a rogue bead on the bracelet?

Japanese Ojime beads have large holes and are a good source of
designs, it just depends if the charm bead idea will be a good
runner.

Different story in Australia… AUD$6,000 buy in and a local
commercial jeweller that I know who also sells Troll is allowed to
buy in. I’m personally not interested since I only sell local South
Australian made jewellery (from studio based artists). Am toying with
the idea of making beads that go on some of these “collectors”
pieces. Keep getting distracted by things that interest me more
though.

Cheers, Renate

Coincidentally, I ran across this web site that sells cores for
“Pandora’, Chamilia’, Biagi’ and Trollbeads’ type beads”

As much as this thread has interested me - trying to keep true to
faith and locality keeps me going.

Horray! A
