Hi guys being based in Ireland I’m getting word that due to Brexit there are import duty from he uk now, this can’t be good when I’m buying from the UK, anyone have a source similar to cookson’s in Germany? France?
The Netherlands has cookson drijfhout (a bit limited selection) and bijou moderne. Bijou is a bit more comparable from what I’ve seen.
Hope you find what you’re looking for!
Karl Fischer in Germany ( https://www.goldschmiedebedarf.de/index.php) has an extensive range of tools and findings, not always the cheapest and shipping charges are quite high as well. They sell a limited range of raw materials, with 925 sheet for example being available in only six thicknesses and widths no greater than 100mm . Argentium is even more limited with only 3 thicknesses available.
Hope this is of some help.
Thanks for that, right, it is 2021 after all, I guess I could order ingots and take a hammer to them if need be
Alternatively (to hammering ingots) you could try NN Enterprises in Dublin (http://www.nnenterprises.ie/Products/Bullion.aspx). Might save you a lot of work !
Sorry for the double reply, but it seems like Germany, italy and a lot of others also have a cooksongold website. Was just checking it out myself and figured I would share.
I don’t think you will be charged duty in Ireland, but could be wrong. I spend time between UK and Spain and used to bring my silver and gold from London, so I might have difficulties now. Does anyone know a Spanish supplier and a good Spanish casting service for lost wax?
The following suppliers are all in Dublin
– NN Enterprises.
Customers get all the advantages of the Cookson range of products, combined with the simplicity of dealing with a company based in central Dublin who understand their needs and all the local eccentricities of the trade.
