Beware is my main advice on “estate stone” dealers… best to buy a
stone from a little old lady trying to sell grandma’s wedding ring
than to trust an online claim of “estate” stones for sale.I’m betting
80 % of the estate stones i see advertised on auction sites are drop
shipped from Alpha Imports. I tend not to make any endorsementsof a
particular seller on Orchid, but if you care to contact me off the
list I will provide you with two legitimate sellers of estate
jewelry.The major auction houses are a good source to look at in
searching truly estate stones, but advise your client they are often
four times the cost of non-estate stones of the same quality,clarity
cut, size and colour. Diamonds from antique jewelry are often higher
quality than is seen today depending on the diamond’s origins: when
and where mined, and when, where, and whether native or machine cut
or cut by independant lapidaries.
