Though I am regularly wathching this forum this is my first post.
Here in India many silversmiths mixes cadmium in silver of 50% to
75% fineness for softning. My question is what are the effects on
articles made from this alloy. Whether it is good or harmful?
Secondly it is very difficult to judge purity of silver simply on
touch stone method when it contained cadmium, when we melt articles
made of silver for judging purity cadmium melts at very lower
termperature and evaportates. So the weight of the article decreases
and percentage of silver increases I am interested in knowing any
other metnod of measuing purity of silver articles containing
cadmium.
