Drawing ellipses

Hello Charles,

If nobody is watching does it matter how you cheat?

A focusing Maglite will give you a nice ellipse to draw around, if
you adjust the distance and tilt to give the required proportions.

Yeah I do use drawing and rendering packages, but in this instance
I'm required to use lead pencil.

Charles,

I'm required to use lead pencil.

I’m not great at drawing freehand shapes, especially starting on a
blank piece of paper. To draw a ellipse, oval, or circle, I start
with 8-16 dots on the page and then draw the shape. Not so much of a
“connect the dot” method, but more using the dots as reference
points. Good luck on your quest.

Jamie

I'm not sure what your point is...

My point is that I can draw ellipses and all manner of things via
high def film quality applications.

Drawing them by hand is another kettle of fish, and the reason I
started this thread

Regards Charles

I don’t draw well - when I need to draw something, I print out a
photo, or a graphic, or, as in this case, an ellipse, and then trace
over, with a lead pencil,. then it has a hand-drawn look, which I
prefer anyway.
