Nice, Chunk. There are many many variations on this basic idea you’ve
drawn, that help with things like:

~ a stop device on the tubing to prevent the pin from closing right
up, to add some springiness to the pin wire when closed - like a
stepped part at each end of the tube.

~ another stop to prevent the pins from opening too widely, makes it
easier to put on the fabric.

~ a more snug fit of the pin thru the tube!
