Double edge knife edge file

Am looking for a #4 Double edge knife file made in Switzerland.
It is 10mm wide x .60mm thick and about 4 inches long. The edges
of the file are knife sharp. If anyone can help me locate a
source I’ be very greatful. Thanks in advance. Bob Goll

Bob, I got mine from Anchor Tool in New Jersey. I do not have
the address at home but will try to remember to bring it
tomarrow. Mary

The doubled edge knife file, how do you use it.

I don’t know where you live, but when I’m looking for something
from overseas, I call the embassy for that country, since they
list businesses here from home. The embassies are in large
cities like NY, LA, and DC. Just follow the trail, unless
someone comes up with a known source.

It is called a screw head file and is used for filing narrow
slots. It is also great for getting into narrow places, grooves,
etc. Take care with it because if it binds in the groove while
you are filing you can easily snap a chunk out of the edge.

I’ve forgotten the beginings of this thread. (I thought it was
about a double edged knife. Not much will get by me)

I thought I’d pass on something I’ve always done with my knife
files. I usually have at least three of them. At least one is as
you buy it. I’ll grind and polish off the left side of one of the
others, grind off the right side of another of the others until
you have a real knife edge. Perhaps it’s more of a knife/saw
combintion. You have to be careful with them. The edges are
extremely delicate and won’t last, but even as they wear and chip
they’ll always be sharper than a double sided file. There is
rarely a problem cleaning up an extreme acute angle to a point.

Bill Schroeder, the owner, buys up odd lots of old tools from
places going out of business and so has things which are not in
his catalog. It is best to call and discribe to him what you are
looking for. I buy all my files from him as he used to display
tools at the Yuma symposium as well as SNAG conferences. For
unusual things, I like to actually see the tools first. Hope he
can help you find that file.
