One day I dropped the toothbrush I was using to apply the ointment
into the bottle. The toothbrush melted. I've never used DMS again.
This strikes me as being like saying, "One day when I was frying
eggs, I dropped my plastic spoon in the frying pan. The spoon melted.
I’ve never used a frying pan again.
Thanks to Jim Binion for getting the MSDS info, which adds some
pieces to the puzzle. I’ll be reassesing everything on an ongoing
basis, most likely not continuing ingestion very, much longer, but
continuing topical use because it freaking works for me. I find no
reason tobuy into any of the hysteria seen here recently. This is
the last I’ll be reading or writing about it on Orchid, but I’m
always around for email. Thanks for the input, everyone (and I do
mean everyone).
Boorishly and defensively yours, and as always, with much love,
What is interesting is that the Cancer Institute at NIH, as well as
researchers at Oregon Health Sciences University are investigating
the beneficial effects of DMSO on leukemia. Seems that the dmso
reverses the leukemia cells and renders them unable to
multiply—actually converts them to another form. They also use
DMSO for certain kinds of bladder ailments.
...Who should we believe? Real clinical researchers or
tree-hugging lo0ns who make a living selling snake oils and water
with memories?...
hmmmmmm… a rather hostile and narrow view, I think.
I’m not fussy on ‘snake oil’ myself, and, by nature, am suspect of
anyone trying to make a ‘quick buck’…I like to know that clinical
data supports ‘label claim’. In Canada, the laws governing ‘natural
health products’ are very strict – far stricter than in the US.
Products with NPNs (Natural Product numbers) do have “REAL” research
to back them up. it’s the only way to achieve an NPN and make it to
(or stay on) the shelves.
Medical intervention has saved my life on two occasions. I’m
grateful.
I’m also grateful for knowledge and products that allow me to take
responsibility for my OWN health, less expensively and with a much
larger margin of safety than those offered by mainstream medicine.
Like most things in life, there’s room and use for both.
Alone with being a jeweler, I also coach Wresting at the high school
level, and we used DMSO for strains and bruises. You are correct. It
gets into the blood stream and when your blood get re-oxygenated in
the lungs, your breath sticks like garlic and onions!!! I mean
STINKS! Our heavy weights used it a lot and MAN! IT STINKS!
Especially trapped on a school bus on away meets!!! LOL
I don’t know if this has been mentioned before but while in nursing
school we were taught that a major problem with DMSO is that it works
very well getting into tissue, so well that IF it were contaminated
with some OTHER harmful substance it would diffuse it right along
with the DMSO. So the problem was the other substance.
