Discoloration when soldering gold and silver

#1

Hi

This is Adesh from Chennai India. I am working as a production
manager in Designer jewellery store. We make many jewellery. Silver
and Gold jewellery is one of our best product but i have many
problems in that.

The Problems are

  1. When we try to solder the gold and silver together the soldering
    part changes the color

  2. We get many black and gray sports in silver

  3. When we try to copper and silver we are getting the same problem
like in gold changes color at soldered part

  4. For eg: in silver and gold bangle there is silver base and the
top is covered with gold now there black sports in silver and the
    solder parts looks odd

I hope you will understand my question and problems and send me the
details of few good technique or alloys or solders which can help me
to sort out this problem.

Thank You

It sounds like you are getting “fire stain.” Here is an article
about it.
