Digital to Slides recommendations?

I need to get some slides made up from digital images. Can anyone
recommend a good company to go through online and what are the min.
requirements resolution wise etc…should I edit it for proper
color or just send raw files?

Hi Jeanne,

I have had excellent service from Discount Digital Art. Their
website is discountdigitalart.com

Charles Prather who owns the company is very knowledgeable. He can
make slides from digital images, and scan slides. They also enlarge
from slides or digital images.

Tell Charles I sent you via Orchid.

Jeanne,

I’ve used http://www.iprintfromhome.com with great satisfaction.
Their price was good, turaround time and quality was excellent.

On their website, you’ll find specific instructions for preparing
your digital files for sending. You then upload the file from your
computer to their site (where you can preview them and even set up
an online gallery!) and order your slides/prints/posters, whatever.
Your gallery remains and you can reorder at any point.

Enjoy!

I have used imagers.com and have been very happy with the slides
that they sent me. I would edit the photos first (color correct and
whatever else) and the website should give the requirements for the
size of the file.

Jeanne - I have had really good results from www.coloradocamera.com.
You get nice slides at a good price $2 first one, $1 additional same
image. They can take any format, automatically fill the screen with
a black box, symmetrically, to adjust the format of digital to that
of slides. They are reasonably fast - 2 days, and nice to deal with.
I have usually given them a cd to work from, but I think that they
can handle emailed files as well.

They also have a really cool printer that makes digital pictures
look like traditional film camera output.

As to color, cropping, and whatever - I’d get it as close to what
you want prior to sending the files. I don’t like the black box to
get to the slide shape so I take the pictures so I can crop to slide
format. When going from digital to slides, I usually leave a tiny
bit more space around the object - I don’t want the slide to look
crowded.

If you have a full color processing facility nearby - I’d try to get
to know them. It’s a whole lot easier to deal with people who you
know. That’s why I recommend these folks - I know who they are and
they know me. But I’m a customer, not an owner, so no self interest
in the recommendation.

Judy,

Just to clarify, you’ve been getting slides from a digital pic for
$2??? That’s an awesome price!!! I’ve been paying about $15.00
for a first print and then $8 or $9 for a duplicate. Thanks for the
source!
